Why Malica
She won in public — and got the diagnosis in private.
Malica made it from the projects to the boardroom. Awards, promotions, accolades — and nights and weekends spent running on empty.
Then, at a routine physical, her doctor delivered the news: two decimal points from type 2 diabetes, thirty pounds overweight. From the outside, she'd made it. On the inside, she was breaking down. The double life had a price, and her body was quietly paying it.
It took eight more years — and a layoff — before she finally took rest seriously. That's the honest part. There was no overnight fix, just the slow, hard work of unlearning a version of success that required her to abandon herself.
"If you've ever won in public but got a diagnosis in private — I built this for you."
Today she helps high-performing Black women in tech, corporate, creative leadership, and entrepreneurship stop living that double life — and rebuild their health, identity, and leadership around rest.
